I went to high school with John (Kelvyn Park - class of '69) and after connecting again at a reunion had been in contact for a while. I just found out about this from another high school friend. We are so sad to hear this. John was such a nice person and I am so sorry for the pain his family is feeling.
God-speed John.

Hi Jennifer and John's other family members,
I'm also a technical writer at Zebra Technologies and used to work with John. As my fellow co-workers have mentioned, we have all been praying for him for the better part of the year. I know how hard it is to lose a parent; and I offer you my deepest sympathy on the loss of your father.
I know that John's birthday would have been Dec. 30th or so, which I'm sure will be especially difficult this year. But, I bring it up to share a fun memory. Every year on his birthday, he'd bring in sliders for his b-day treat at work. I'll always remember the twinkle of mischief and humor he'd get in his eyes when he carried in all of the White Castle sacks for everyone. He was a great guy and we all will miss him very much.

My heart goes out to Jennifer and the rest of John's family. I haven't cried this much over a death since my own father died in 1992.
John was a great guy, and he'll be missed by the people who he used to work with in the TechPubs group at Zebra. My desk was next to his for a couple/few years, and we car pooled together when gas prices started getting high. We've had him in our prayers for some time now, knowing that he wasn't doing well.
I'm going to hold onto the mental picture that I have of John at the last Zebra prom he attended, when he was dressed to the nines in a very nice suit (gray I believe) that really set off his coloring. He made quite a dashing picture that evening! I'm really going to miss him.

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face. And the rain fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again May God hold you in the palm of his hand.
