Johnny, I had the honor of being your older sister. I watched you grow into a man. A man who would give anyone the shirt off his back. Johnny you loved our Mom and Dad—your entire family. You turned to Mom at your time of need—with that let us all live by your guidance—love your family everyday as tomorrow is not promised to us. Johnny you have gone to heaven to be with our brother Georgie. Hold his hand, watch over us till we join you in heaven.

Johnny,
My kids keep asking who will bring them doughnuts now and when will you come home. I told Mckayla you are in heaven. She know thinks you and santa knows when she is bad or good. We will miss you. If we only knew Christmas eve and Matt's 9th birthday party would be the last time, we would have not let theose times end. Your were the best brother and godfather I could have ever asked for. Aunt Esther, Uncle George and dear cousins. So many memories growing up on the Eastside of Chicago. I just recently viewed old home movies of us clowning around, visits to Brookfield Zoo and holidays with Grandma and Grandpa Lopez. The family would get together for holidays and have such great times. Johnnie and Georgie would always put smiles on our faces. Now Johnnie and Georgie have reunited. He will be missed by all.

I didn't know John personally but I am the mother of a former Marine. I'm not even certain if there is such a thing as a "former" Marine. We are all a family and when one Marine passes away all of us feel the loss. I love and pray for all of the men and women who serve honorably in the United States Armed Services. But the Marine Corps is closest to my heart. I guess you would have to be a Marine or the loved one of a Marine in order to understand the love we have for the Corps.
