John O'Brill Obituary
John F. "Jack" O'Brill, age 93, of Chicago (Edgebrook). Retired Teacher, Chicago Public Schools, after 54 years of service. Past Teacher Trustee and Past President of the Chicago Teachers' Pension Fund. Beloved son of the late Alfred and Marie, née Naughton, O'Brill; loving brother of Robert A. (the late Pamela) and the late Colette (the late Jerome) Meyer; proud uncle to the O'Brill and Meyer families. Visitation, Thursday, October 19, 2023, from 10 a.m. until time of Mass of Christian Burial, 11 a.m., at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church, 6955 N. Hiawatha Ave., Chicago, where Jack was a charter and lifelong member. Interment, Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Evanston. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice. I was on the executive board of the Chicago Teachers Union with Jack. We often worked together. He was a good person to work with, always a gentleman. I was very fond of him and was sorry to hear of his passing. Please accept my condolences.

To Jack's family, he was an usher at St. Mary of the Woods, and that is how I got to know him. I've been on the Hospitality Ministry at our church for many decades and always had the pleasure of seeing his smiling face when he ushered at mass. He was a lovely and warm person, and I am so sad that he has passed on to the heavenly kingdom. May Jack Rest in Peace.
