I was saddened to hear of Father John's passing. I am a distant cousin. Father married me 41 years ago. I remember his 25th anniversary, and the St. John's church when it was in the tent. He will be remembered .

I was saddened to read of Father John's passing. It has been many years since I served his very first mass, 6am, at St. Leonard's in Berwyn, and many many more 6am masses that followed. As a reward, he took me for a days outing to St. Mary's Training School in DesPlaines (now called Maryville) where he visited a classmate who was assigned there. After our visit there, we drove to St. Mary of the Lake in Mundelein, where we spent the rest of the day viewing the grounds, chapel, and yes, we also took a dip in the pool. I was just a boy then...but a day in my life I will always cherish.
On Father John's 25th anniversary, (which I read in the New World) I sent him a congratulatory card and that same week, I received a call from Father asking if I would serve his anniversary mass at St. John's. I had to decline for some reason, unknown to me now. However, during his homily, he mentioned he had many happy memories during his 25 years as a Priest, but one of his most memorable was the fact that his first alter boy at his first mass at St Leonard's remembered him! (I was told this by a parishener so many years later who attended the mass.)
I wanted to share this with his family and to send my sincere condolences to you. I was unable to attend the services, but I will never forget Father John.
To John C. Kyle: I would appreciate if you could send me a prayer card, if at all possible. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Robert M. Shunick (age 81)

My family was one of the first families at St.John's in Streamwood I remember father as a very loving ,sweet, and caring pastor..I would say he was loved by all of his community..I taught Religious Education at the parish, and of course the Mass and Liturgies in that hugh tent was an experience. Working on the fun fair with father and the rest of our community was a joy, that was the best of times and Father Kyle made our time there very special. My family wants to extend our sympathy to his family..he will be missed...but on the bright side, we have another Saint in Heaven who can help "us" to attain eternal bliss with The Father,Son and Holy Spirit, along with Mother Mary and all the other Saints in Heaven.

Not soon will forget the joy Fr. Kyle brought to all around him, at St. Andrew Home, especially to my mom, Tillie, who beat him to heaven.
Our prayers and God's blessings to a great man.

Our Pastor at both St. Edward & St. John the Evangelist & the priest after whom our youngest son is named. Never dreamed when I saw him a few weeks ago that I would never again. No one knows.

I was so sorry to hear of the death of your uncle, Fr. John Kyle. He appeared to have a very diverse ministry in the priesthood. My condolences to both you and Diana.
