Family and Friends of Father Hall, our prayers and thoughts go out to you during this difficult time. Our family knew Fr. Hall from Incarnation Parish, we loved having him visit us in class and preside our school masses because he was warm, caring and exuded the love of God that we were taught. We will always remember his smiling face and contagious laugh. The Roca and Roca-Dawson families

I knew Father John as a wonderful friend and spiritual leader when I was a parishioner at Our Lady of Ransom years ago. I remember being so proud of him as he served at Cardinal Bernardin's funeral. Now these two holy men are together again, at peace in Heaven with Our Lord. Thank you, Father John, for your friendship and guidance.

The sudden loss of Fr.John Hall comes as quite a shock. We pray his reward with the Lord is great. Fr. John was loved and was a wonderful and helpful Associate Pastor for many years at Incarnation Parish in Palos Heights. We missed him following his transfer to Holy Name Cathedral and his subsequent pastorship on the north side. He visited us on numerous happy occasions and will always be remembered as one of the best. He will be in our prayers always.

When I saw the entry on the front page of the paper I could not believe what I was reading. Father John is gone! I am absolutely devastated by his passing. Father John buried both of my parents as if he had known them his entire life. Few ever find what they are meant to do in life but he did. He was the epitome of what a priest should be. He was OLR and it will not be the same without him. I extend my deepest sympathy to you at this unexpectedly painful time. May God be with you as he is with Father John.

To The Hall Family:
On behalf of Best Catholic Pilrimages, we will dearly miss Fr. John as he not only traveled many times with us individually or doing a pilgrimage with Our Lady Of Ramsom but most of all as a friend to us. There are no words to express how kind, generous and wonderful Fr. John was. May he bless us all from above. Not only as I stated will he be missed by BCP but to me especially as a special friend whom I had so much fun with. Fr. John always put a smile on anyone's face whom he was in contact with. Our prayers and thoughts are with you.

There are so many fond memories of John and the entire Hall family. Memories of "H.O.C.", Laurel and Lockwood Avenues, oh and of course hockey in the alley. Not only did I grow up with John but I grew to know that he was truly a remarkable and special human being. We have been blessed by his presence and will always cherish his kindness, generosity and work as a priest. He has left a legacy of love and dedication for all of us to honor and admire and in so doing, a legacy that will keep him with us forever.

Dear Family:
John and I met shortly after he came to Holy Name. He was a young assoicate pastor and I was a young lawyer and parishioner. We served together for many years on various committees etc, and during that time we developed a great friendship which I will always cherish. One did not have to know John long to learn two things about him. He loved Chrismas (in his words, he was "big" on it) and he was also "big" on his family. We loved sharing stories about our families with one another. It was through those stories that I got to learn a little about you; but more importantly I saw how much you meant to John. I hope that somehow you feel comforted by the fact that you were blessed to him in your lives, even if it were for a way too short period of time.

Dear Family of Fr. Hall:
Our hearts are very heavy, along with yours. God had a grander plan for Fr. John, though we are sad that he took him from us much too soon. His Easter Basket Blessing was an annual tradition for our family, and Fr. John was always attentive to mom and our nieces every year. And his special tribute to our parents at their funeral masses was a true comfort for us and will always be remembered. We somehow hope you can feel what our hearts want to say to you. May his memory be eternal.

Father John was a special, special man and a devoted priest. He officiated our nephew’s funeral. It was a most difficult time for our family. His words of comfort were truly said from his heart.
He loved his family. He would often speak of his nieces and nephews and his face would just light up. Although there is a great void, it was an honor and a privilege to have such a special man in our lives. We feel truly blessed. He will be terribly missed at OLR, but remembered always. There is no doubt that he is with our Lord in paradise. Thinking of you during this difficult time.

Dear Friends and Family,
I was privileged to concelebrate last Satrday with Father Hall at the beautiful church of Our Lady of Ransom that he built, just hours before his untimely death. He gave a warm homily to the Meegan family, of which I am a relation, about the death of Peter D. Meegan, named for his uncle, the late Msgr Peter Meegan. I spoke of the priestly love of the sick and dying in the life of Msgr Meegan, little knowing that the Lord would call John immediately thereafter! May he rest in peace.
