I work at a Chicago Finacial Institution and had the privlage of knowing John for about 20 years. What a gentleman. I thought of John again yesterday and wanted to say happy 100th birthday. We talked about the Cubs from time to time and were hoping they would win a second world series for him. He replied, "I hope they win one for you". And then he laughed. That memory still brings a smile to me.

Having just learned of his passing, I add my words of loss to those already posted here. I worked for Mr. Gray when he was a 96 year old former CEO who came to the office every single day, sometimes even on holidays! I learned so much from him and will remember him fondly. He had a unique perspective and a wonderful outlook on life. Steve, he didn't make it to 104, but he lived every day as if he would.

I worked as a switchboard operator for Hartmarx, and Mr. Gray's office was next door to the switchboard room. He was always nice to me, and that's something that I'll always remember. He will definitely be misssed.
My thoughts and prayers are with you in this time of sorrow.
