Father John,
Thanks for all the wonderful contributions you made
to other in your life. My grandfather, George Hefner
sat on the draft board, in 1944, when you requested a religious deferment, as you wanted to become a priest.
Granddad declined your request, adding "there will be plenty of time to become a priest, after the war."
Semper Fidelis,
Dan Hefner

Fr Foley was a lifelong friend of my mother Marilyn Hanrahan.
Fr attended my wedding & I casually asked him to give the meal blessing. He answered he liked a little longer notice to prepare & say something special on an important day & maybe someone else might be a better choice. In a slight panic, I asked my mother to talk to Fr Foley.
Long story short: Fr gave the blessing. Even mentioning the Notre Dame/Boston College football game for my wife´s Boston relatives.
Fr Foley was the best & only choice for that day.
Thank you for all the time you shared with the Taaffe family.

Prayers for Fr. Foley. Knew him in High School. Most recently, presided over my late brother's funeral service and interment. Had the pleasure to drive him to Maryhaven Nursing Home in Glenview, IL to say Mass on Sundays and also to his residence at Agape House on the campus of Loyola University. Rest in eternal peace, Fr. Foley.

Played tennis for years with Dad, who thought very highly of Father Foley. They both laughed about another Fenwick/LA friendship with a St. George guy. Most grateful for your long-time dedicated service to the LA community. RIP, Father.
