It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Mark Elliott, Jr. of Willards, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend. Born on March 8, 1960, in Maryland, John left this world on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. He was 65 years old.
John was a master carpenter by trade, known for his craftsmanship and dedication to his work. Beyond his career, he had a zest for life that was infectious. A passionate fisherman, John spent countless hours on the water, making memories with his brothers, son and grandsons. He also had a lifelong love for hot rods and could often be found tinkering on his beloved old Chevy truck. John had a tremendous love for animals and often rescued pets in need. He especially had a soft spot for his pet squirrel, Cleo, and his loyal pigeon, Lady Bird, who kept him company for many years. Splinter and Sissy, his loyal dogs will miss him greatly. His love for animals extended to cats and dogs, as he always had a welcoming home for them. Music was another vital part of John's life. He played in bands over the years and thoroughly enjoyed the Thursday karaoke club, and the Sunday jams with a close-knit group of friends. If there was a musical instrument around, you could bet John could play it.
John is survived by his loving wife, Lori Elliott; his son, Dustin Elliott, Sr. (Jessica); stepsons, Dylan Layfield and Dalton Layfield (Cricket Francisco); grandchildren, Dustin Elliott, Jr., Hayden Elliott, and Lane Elliott; and his sisters, Renee Gruber (Ray), Colleen Hutchison, and Simona Losiewski (Bobby). His extended family includes his many nieces and nephews, with special mentions to Ernest "Buddy" Tubbs III, Jody Littleton, Shelby Losiewski, and Robb Elliott, along with numerous great nieces and great nephews, and countless friends and extended family members, all of whom felt the touch of John's generous spirit.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Addola M. Jarvis; father, John M. Elliott, Sr; and brothers, Wayne Morris Elliott and Ernest "Buddy" Tubbs and his Mother-in-law, Ruth Ann Tingle.
