John P. "Johnny" Darragh

John Darragh Obituary

Darragh, John P. "Johnny" Age 56, passed away peacefully on Holy Thursday, April 5th, after a courageous battle with colon cancer. He was the son of the late John and of his loving mother, Adelle. He will be sorely missed by his sister, Susan (George) and his brothers, Patrick (Danna) and Michael (Annette). Johnny cherished every moment with his children and he will be remembered by his family as the devoted father of John, Daniel, and Colleen. He was the beloved uncle of many nieces and nephews. Johnny enjoyed fishing and playing horseshoes with his lifelong friends. He also enjoyed the camaraderie of his coworkers at Circle Gear where he worked as a machinist. Memorials would be appreciated in remembrance of Johnny to the American Cancer Society 17060 S. Oak Park, Tinley Park, IL. 60477 (708-633-7770). Internment services will be semi-private for family and friends at St, Casimir Cemetery.

Uncle Johnny, I would just like to thank you for being such an amazing uncle, and for taking such great care of my daddy throughout the years. You were, are, and always will be his very best friend, and I can see so much joy in his heart whenever we speak of you. I know you will always be here watching over us and sitting beside us whenever we need a good laugh, a good cry, or maybe just a reminder of how precious life, love and family really are. I will always love you and I am so lucky to have you as my uncle, and now as one of my angels. I love you.

Hey Mike.
I am so sorry and feel so bad right now to hear about brother John.
Many years ago when I was only 11 or 12 years old, I was fortunate to have met both you and Johnnie thru the gang you all hung around with. It was really special to me to see how a bunch of friends could get together on Sundays, shoot the breeze at the restaurant then play cards, softball, bowling or figure out where you all will watch the Bears game or simply whatever came up. Sometimes nothing, but it was so cool for me because Chris used to bring me around often. I think that was his way of being able to get out of the house. :o) Though as years went by as often as what happens in life, everyone grows up and takes new paths, and I have to tell you, it was such a pleasure to have run back into Johnnie and to have him hang with us and pitch horseshoes, play cards and jag us when the Packers were rolling. Johnnie never complained about a thing, and was just fun to watch him and Steven be partners pitching horseshoes because the 2 of them were so hard to beat. We missed Johnnie the end of last year and can't tell you how much he will be missed going forward. We will always talk about him and have many laughs when we do. He was a good guy, and I certainly was glad to have had him be a part our family. He will be missed! You take care Mike. Again, I am very sorry…..Dan DiCola.
PS - I would be down quit a bit of $$ to him with the Packers rolling over "Da Bears". Hope he's smiling!!!!

Dear Johnny,

The youngest of us,
The sweetest of us,
The one mose hurt by life,
And yet
The one most blessed
With an impressive array
Of friends and acquiantances
And co-workers who constantly
Kept in touch during
Your final Days.

Yes; you were blessed
And we were blessed to have you.

Sleep well dearest Brother.
Give Daddy a hug and kiss for us,
And keep an eye on us from up there.

Love You Dearest Brother,

Susie and George

Adelle, Sue & George, Pat & Danna, Mike & Annette,
Thank you for including us in John's memorial service. It was so beautiful to see how many of his friends came out to pay tribute to a great guy. John was the best brother we could have ever asked for, and we will miss him every day. Even in the face of pain and adversity in this past years, he was always upbeat, brave and considerate, and never lost his sense of humor. We will miss swapping old family stories and jokes with him, even if he did always know the punchline! So glad we were able to spend as much time with him as we did. Love to you all.
