I know I was not Fr. Collin“s favourite person but I really enjoyed Mass every time and Religion classes everyday. It was the only time I had peace in my life. Those were the best times of my Life because he faithfully taught me about my Lord and Saviour plus my grandparents were believers in Christ Jesus.

I have good memories of Fr John from my deacon internship at St Ailbe's, which I think was John's first assignment, in 1986/87. His casting his lot with the Church of the South Side of Chicago inspires me. May God be good to him forever!

To the Collins family, although Fr. John was not assigned to St. John de la Salle Parish, he was a resident, but he left the parishioners with wonderful memories of his homilies laced with his sense humor, his willingness to talk us through some of our problems and just sometimes laugh with us. He was a good and faithful servant. He will truly be missed. May he rest in peace. Our prayers are with you.

It's sad to see a priest die. And an Irish priest at that. My brother Dave was ordained the year before John Collins. So it hits close to home. May the good lord be with you on your journey!

Father Collins, (Jocko) thank you so much for being a part of my family. We will miss you very, very much. You were more than just a priest to us and always will be. We love you and cherish each and every memory. From every dinner that my mom prepared to every prayer you shared for my grandmother, my mom, and my son. May God bless you with eternal rest and comfort your family at this time. You were truly one of the chosen few and you will always, always have a special place in my heart!
