John Christie Obituary

Christie, John M. 1936 - 2010, beloved husband for fifty-three years to Lois (nee Embree), devoted father of Noelle and Keith, dearest brother of Donald Christie (Arlene), loving uncle of Curt Christie (Christie), Chad Christie (Joelle), Carie Christie Mihalko (Jason), and Rebecca Hughes, and cousin and grand-uncle to countless others. He was preceded in death by his parents Duncan and Alice Christie. He proudly served his country as Airman First Class, U.S. Air Force, at Tachikawa Air Force Base, Japan. John dedicated over 30 years of his career to Aero Testing & Balancing Systems, Inc., a subsidiary of Climatemp, Inc., and was a proud and loyal member of the Sheet Metal Workers' Local Union 73 for 50 years. He was the Founding Member and Director of the Chicagoland Testing and Balancing School and honored as the first inductee at the Testing, Adjusting and Balance Bureau (TABB) National Hall of Fame in Washington, D.C. in recognition of his significant contributions to the field. John was a steadfast member, Deacon and Trustee of Morgan Park Presbyterian Church. As a man of integrity he will be dearly missed as a friend, teacher and mentor to the many people who sought his counsel. Visitation Saturday, October 16 at 3 P.M., Memorial Service begins at 3:30 P.M., Morgan Park Presbyterian Church, 11056 S. Longwood Drive, Chicago, IL. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Morgan Park Presbyterian Church, Memorial Fund, 11056 S. Longwood Drive, Chicago, IL 60643. Info 773-779-3355.
