Sorry for your loss. You do not know me butI am the daughter of Joseph J Cannistra. My dad was the son of Grace Cannistra. My Dad passed away in the 50s. I remember your Dad when he was young. We were visitors at Uncle Bartolo and Aunt Jenni's many times with my Dad and his mother Grace and sister Catherine and Mary. My brother Dan Steven Cannistra's middle name was after your uncle Steve.
We moved to Florida after my Dad passed away and never saw any of his family again. I am 65 now. We always had some of Uncle Bartolo's homemade wine in our basemant. Also I remember one of the brothers brought a jacket from somewhere in the service. It looked like a colorful Japanese Jacket. My Dad was very proud of it.
Again I am sorry for your loss only wish I could have known my Dads relatives.

I am sorry to hear about your Dad. You were just telling us great stories about him when I saw you the week before he passed away. You seemed to have loved him very much. Take care.

Our condolences go out to Johns Family at this difficult time. Our memories of his unique ways of "taking care of his guys" with sandwiches on a daily basis at work, to making men out of young boys who worked for him on his concrete crews will always remain. I credit Johnny for assiting me in pointing my son in the right direction, to finish college, and showed him a work ethic. As a fellow employee on the job, John was a pleasure to work for and with. He was one of a kind.....and for that we will remember him and keep him in our hearts.
