John Burke Obituary

We were deeply saddened to hear of Mr. Burke's death. Jack was always so wonderful to us. Please know you are all in our thoughts and prayers.

Joan and I were shocked and saddened to hear about Jack and we extend our deepest condolences to Mary and the family. Jack was a great man and a great friend to my parents & our whole family. He will be incredibly missed at Notre Dame.

My condolences to you on your loss. Some of my best memories of growing up was having your family as neighbors and Jack was a large part of that. Know that your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

Mary & Family - What a beautiful tribute to you, John and your family! I could not get to John's wake on Friday but made it to the Mass at SIJ on Saturday and was so impressed with the memories the children shared of their Dad and to have all the grandchildren participate in the Mass - what a beautiful blessing and tribute to faith and family. Know that you are all loved tremendously by our awesome God and that you will remain in my prayers as long as you need them. In spite of your sadness, there was so much joy! God bless each and every one of you! John must be smiling down upon all of you!

What a testimonial! Judging by the car filled parking lot at Notre Dame and the lines in the hall at the school, John touched many, many lives. We're so glad he touched ours. Our heartfelt sympathy to you Mary, and your family.

Remeber Jack well from my freshman year (1959). Enjoyed seeing him last year during Spring Training. The Notre Dame community will miss him and his many contributions.

To the Jack Burke family our condolences. Jack, the Alumni or De Paul Academy, and Lewis College(University) now, will miss you. There will be no explaining how the NDHS will miss all that you have done there over the years. It was a pleasure knowing you these years. Wow! Talk about a "death in the family"! Jack Burke is not only part of the brick and mortar of Notre Dame High School, but the soil and shrubs, and the heart and soul of the place as well.

Mr. Burke was a great man, a family man, and a hardworker, he was the backbone of Notre Dame High School, and the reason it stands as one of the great High Schools in the Greater Chicagoland area.

Tom and Mary Foley Foley would like to extend their sincere sympathies to Jack's family. We enjoyed meeting Jack whenever we were on a Sister Cities visit to Niles & of course it was Jack's connection with the Mayocks of Leixlip which started the relationship between Leixlip and Niles

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Jack's death. He was a great friend to us in Leixlip, and was the man who brought Leixlip and Niles together in the first place.



Both our towns will be the poorer for his passing.

My prayers and condolences to the Jack Burke Family. When I was principal of NDHS (1998-2002) Jack was a wanderful friend, co-worker and advisor. A great sense of humor. Jack always spoke to you straight ... man to man. He truly exemplified the Notre Dame man in spirit and action. He was the loyal rock of the high school. When you think of NDHS you think of Jack Burke. Heaven is getting a good man. May you rest in peace, Jack ... God please love and soothe the Burke Family.
