I was so sad to learn of Joel's death. His older brother, Alan, was my highschool sweetheart. I had hoped to be in touch with Joel to have someone to talk about old times. If his wife or kids (if he had any) would like to talk to me about the family, I'd be very happy. My phone number if 510 524-7913.

dear jennifer, joshua, rebecca, and benita.
it is very sad and painful to read of joel's death so soon after ruth's, whom i knew as "smokie" (and i was "sammie" when we were camp counselors long ago, and members of youth habonim).
i knew ruth first, from the far south side, camp counselling, and
continuing our friendship for some time. we met again in hyde park, years later, when our children were grown (my son, sean, was friendly with jennifer, as i recall). and benita, i visited your home and knew your family, on the far south side. joel was a warm, kind, gentle man and they left wonderful children to carry on their inherent gifts. i will make every effort to
attend joel's funeral and regret not being able to attend ruth's. i
am SO sorry for your losses and the sadness you must feel. my thoughts are with you.
