My deepest sympathies to Karen, Eric, Sherry, Arlene Frank, Lianna and Dylan. A very special man lost his life and my prayers and condolences are with the family.
I was never close to Jerry, but I always admired and respected him. Jerry was blount, opinionated, and very street smart, yet he also had a kind and compassionate side. He was extremely loyal to his friends and family, and would do almost anything to help them out in a time of need.
The summer before my freshman year of college, I was working for my father in the field until I had to undergo an emergency illeoctamy. Hearing my plight, Jerry offered me a job in his warehouse. He didn't need me and I was probably more of a hinderance because I couldn't do any physical labor, yet he still gave me a job for the summer. I will never forget that act of kindness.
Last time I saw Jerry was in December. We spoke for a few minutes. I tried very hard to find out how he was feeling. Jerry wouldn't even let me finish my sentence; he went straigt to asking me how my pursuits were going. That is the sign of a man of integrity. Unless you were close with Jerry, he never really talked about himself. Jerry always tried to find out how you were doing, even when he was dying of cancer. Jerry Nixon was a man of integrity. He will be sorely missed.

We had the honor of meeting Jerry and Karen when we purchased their last boat from them in August of 2007. "That's Jerry Nixon's old boat? I know him, what a fantastic guy." is what we heard over and over and over. Yes, in the short time that we knew him we learned what a class act this man was. We can't go anywhere without meeting someone who knows him and respects or loves him. God Bless you Jerry. It was a great pleasure to know you and your co-captain Karen. We'll think of you often, especially when we're out on the water. Rest in peace.

Jerry was a giant in his industry and as a human being. He had a bulldog tenacity when he wanted to accomplish something - and he accomplished many wonderful things. Above all, though, had a big heart. He will be missed for all that, but most especially as a good friend.
