So very sad for the world to have lost this gentle man. Dr Silver was a great surgeon but more importantly such a wonderful person. Smart, kind, humorous,
intuitive, and so very thoughtful.
I worked for him and Dr Bessinger at Weiss in the early 70´s. Last time I saw him was at my wedding when he and your cute Mom lit up the dance floor.
I still treasure a ring he gave me as a "retirement" gift. It´s a gold ring with a little whistle charm.
His note said "If you ever need me, just whistle". Your Dad/Grampa is gone but I´m certain he´ll be listening if you
"Just whistle"

I was saddened to hear about the passing of Dr.Silver. He was a wonderful, caring man. I will never forget how he would visit me on my floor at the hospital and see if he could be of assistance. When my husband and I planned a vacation to Europe, he and his wife bought us two beautiful books on Paris and gave us suggestions for our trip. I will miss him greatly.

Our deepest, heartfelt condolences to the family of Dr. Silver. We had an association for over 40 years as our family surgeon, colleague, friend & advisor. We knew his family & I worked with his sister, Ruth. He will always have a special place in our hearts & will be sorely missed. Fondly,

Dr. Silver has and always will, hold a golden place in my heart and memory. His dedication to his patients, guidance for anyone seeking his assistance and support for this naive, new Clinical Coordinator was a God-given gift. Hearing this bellow, "Billie, who messed with my schedule?" struck a fearful cord in my stomach the first week I was at Strauss. With head down, I shuffled into his office expecting a lecture of the grandest proportion. Dr. Silver calmly explained his faith in Billie's abilities to coordinate his schedule and then informed me my biggest worry was with Billie! I rarely "messed" with his schedule again! I will miss Dr. Silver's presence in the world, but believe Heaven has a fantastic new resident. My deepest sympathy to Dr. Silver's family.

DR. SILVER WAS A VERY SPECIAL KIND OF GUY. I WORKED WITH HIM AT LOUIS WEISS HOSPITAL FOR OVER 11 YEARS. WE HAD SO MANY LAUGHS TOGETHER. BEFORE ICU'S BECAME COMMONPLACE, JERRY AND I WROTE THE FIRST DEFIB MANUAL (I CAN'T TELL YOU THE NAMES HE CALLED ME DURING THE WRITING).
I ALSO KNEW YOUR MOM, WHO WAS A VERY CLASSY LADY. THEY MADE QUITE A PAIR.
I'M SURE THERE ARE MANY OTHERS WHO WORKED WITH JERRY WHO FEEL HIS LOSS. HE WILL ALWAYS BE IN MY THOUGHTS.
