Jean Blackwell Obituary

Jean Adams King Blackwell, 79, of Roanoke, passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2007. She was born in London, England, and was a teacher of music in Roanoke City Schools for twenty-two years. Surviving are her husband of thirty years Lester Allen Blackwell; son, Steven Urquhart and wife, Evelyn, of Roanoke; stepson, Don Blackwell and wife, Laura, of San Jose, Calif. In England are her sister, Sheila Moore of Selsey; nephew, Patrick Moore; and nieces, Lisa Ostle and Samantha Moore; uncle, Don Urquhart of Peacehaven. Thank you to special friends, Lawrence and Mary Rice, and Helpful Hands Home Care and Good Samaritan Hospice for help and support. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 23, 2007 at 10 a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church on Franklin Road with the Rev. Stephen Stanley officiating followed by graveside service at Sherwood Memorial Park. Friends may call at Oakey's South Chapel from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 22, 2007.
