Mrs Khadem must have been a remarkable woman. We did not have the pleasure of knowing her, but we admire her daughter, Dr May Khadem. We feel sure that Mrs Khadem was very proud of all that May has accomplished, as all of her children surely carry on her wonderful legacy of love of humanity. The world needs these spirits, and they are sorely misssed when they leave us.

After many years of basking in the light of the Khadem family, who lived in our Champaign-Urbana,Il. community for many years, this old heart had to turn for refuge to writing a "pome" when they moved away.(Unfortunately, one can only turn as poetic as one's capacity allows.)It is here revised, mourning her departure from this world:

TO JAVIDUKHT
With love to her magnificant family.

A clear and crystaline dew did fall upon our Days. The cool, pure diamond drops of sweetly-scented dew, descended and diffused to stem our heedlessness, our mundane ways, so wasteful and confused. And while this dew, beloved you, so filled our hearts with heaven's love, we always knew in time the sun of midday high above would come and then the teaching must be done and battles waged anew.
One cannot rest --in shade caressed
as hearts rejoice and spirits soar, without the test--the trial of loss and separation when the time of dew is o'er. So, now we march, the Promise to renew, with masses rising from the few. All hearts in tune, forever thankful to our Lord for you, Javidukht.
