I still think of Janis and how extremely fun and funny she was. What a bright light. She taught school with my momma, Suzy Satterlee, who is 89. Janis was gone too soon and she was far too young.

I have wonderful memories of Janis - when she walked into my wedding shower, saw a mannequin in a weddning dress and screamed with glee! She was so fun. My mom, Suzy Satterlee, worked with Janis for years, at Johnston School in Bensenville. I bet that she was a heck of a teacher too.

If this message is a repeat, I apologize for some computer problems that have me trying again for another note here. Anyway, with a now slightly clearer mind and a few less tears and sorrow, I would like to clarify my original entry dated 6-3-11. Janis and I were a couple during our Junior year in high school and not the Senior year previously mentioned. Also, my previously mentioned note from Janis is actually a very, very long, 2 page entry that she made in my 1964 Prospect High School yearbook.
Peace and Love, Ed

Simply, and profoundly,I'm stunned and very tearful now knowing that Janis has passed away. Just got back yesterday from Florida, and, among other wonderful things, my brother George and I had gotten out some old high school yearbooks to talk about old times and old friends. I had then decided to contact Janis to say hello or whatever, and now her passing. I am so very, very sad and upset. If any family member wants to contact me please call my work # of 847-628-4208. You might be interested in a very long note she wrote me many years ago. I was her boyfriend senior year in high school.
May God bless us, one and all, for eternity.

To all of Janis' family,
I am so extremely sorry for your loss. It is a tremendous loss for me as well. I had the pleasure of sharing a grandchild with Janis. She was such a wonderful person, so full of life, so gifted in so many ways, but most of all, in making everyone feel loved and comfortable. I am so sorry that we can not continue to share our lives. I will miss her terribly. My prayers and love go out to all the family. We all are suffering a tremendous void in our lives without Janis, or as Abbey called her, "My Oma"

John,
I wanted to tell you how wonderful Janis was, but anyone who knows her already knows this about her. My favorite memory of Janis is when she arrived at my wedding shower, took one look at this crazy mannequin with a wedding dress on, & just screamed with delight! She had the best sense of fun! Both Janis & my mom, Suzy Satterlee, taught Merydith Huston, who is a friend of mine. Merydith had this to say about Janis, "She was one of my favorite teachers; an inspiration for me as a teacher too. If it weren't for her, seriously, I wouldn't have the grasp I have on math!" I feel for you, John, for how difficult this is going to be for you. Janis had such a big personality, one which is going to be so missed by so many. And, what a loss for her parents too. Again, I am so so sorry.
