Jane King Obituary

King, Jane Elizabeth

June 18, 1932 - June 21, 2023

Jane Elizabeth King, (nee Concannon) of Naperville and formerly of County Mayo, Ireland, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2023, three days after her 91st birthday, surrounded by her family at her daughter's home in Naperville. Mother of six children and grandmother of ten, she was known for her Irish soda bread, her fondness for thrift stores, her strong constitution and her Catholic faith. She loved dancing and homemaking and brisk walking. She was born to Annie (Mulkeen) and John Concannon of Knock, Co. Mayo, Ireland, on June 18, 1932, eleventh of twelve children. She left Ireland at age 19 and worked in England for several years before coming to Chicago to visit her sisters for a temporary stay. Life had other plans, and after meeting Mike King at an Easter dance soon after arriving, she fell in love and married him that Christmas. Six children followed, with a move from Chicago's South Side to Naperville in 1967. She supported Mike in establishing King Real Estate in Darien and Naperville, and was an active 25-year volunteer at Serendipity Resale Shop, benefiting Little Friends. Married to Mike King for 43 full and active years until his death, she later married her "other Mike", Mike Casey, and enjoyed life and travels with him until his death in 2013. She moved to an apartment in Villa St. Benedict in Lisle in 2016 and lived independently until her last two months. Jane is survived by her brother, Fr. Eamon Concannon of Ireland, her children, Maureen, Susanne (Kevin Lane), Kevin, Jackie (Blair Jensen), Eileen (John Monteleone) and Michael (Amy Hamilton). She is also survived by her grandchildren Gillian and Sean King of Virginia, Declan and Lucy Jensen of Naperville, Alex King of Chicago, Ella and Niall Monteleone of California and Ainsley, Tierney and Maigue King of North Carolina as well as 63 nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 25, in the narthex of St. Margaret Mary, 1450 Green Trails Drive, Naperville. A memorial mass will immediately follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Little Friends, 27555 Diehl Road, Warrenville, IL 60555 or https://www.littlefriendsinc.org/support/donate/

Jane was my last surviving aunt. I have happy memories of her as a child when she stayed with us for a while when working in London. She was very very bright and upbeat and I missed her when she went to work at the Oatlands
Park hotel in Weybridge England. I loved visiting her there.
My deep sympathy to all the family and to Father Eamon
