James Watkins Obituary

Watkins, James Edward "Nugie" age 87, of Chicago, former Harlem Globetrotter, beloved by his family, friends, and co-workers, Nugie grew up on 49th and St. Lawrence where he developed his skills as an athlete. He played softball in the C.Y.O. League with the St. Anslin Team, the Gas House Gang, the Windy City Softball team, and the Brown Bombers. After his career in sports he began working at GTE Automatic Electric until he retired in 1987. Shortly after his retirement, he began working the University of Chicago's Office of Special programs-College Prep where he helped produced the Institute for Athletics and Education (iae) reception and conferences for many years.
