Shelton, James W. Age 85, of Chicago, Illinois passed peacefully on Friday, March 19, 2010. Born on February 4, 1925 in Birmingham, Alabama. Husband of the late Mildred Shelton for 45 years, dear father of Randy, Donald (Goldie), Michelle and Michael (Joyce), caring grandfather of Justin and Joy, loving brother of Charles (Wanda), sister Etheleen, sister-in-laws Gladys, Mae Francis, dear uncle of many nieces, and nephews. James was a World War II Veteran and served in the United States Navy. Upon retiring in 1989, James worked as a Stationary Engineer with the Chicago Public Schools. He also worked with various City Municipalities, including the House of Correction, Department of Revenue, Cook County and the City of Chicago, for a total of 38 years of dedicated service. James was a community activist and served in the capacity of the 27th ward Precinct Captain, the 34th Ward Democratic Organization Precinct Captain. Other affiliations include member of the International Union of Operating Engineers - Local 143, SEIU-COPE Local 46, Metropolitan Water Reclamation District, Municipal Employees Society, and P.T.A. president of Shoop School. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, March 25, 2010, from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at A.A. Rayner & Sons, 318 East 71st Street, Chicago , IL 60619. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 26, 2010 at Beth Eden Baptist Church, 11121 S. Loomis, Chicago, Illinois 60643. For Info contact 773- 846-6133.

I want to offer my condolences to the Shelton family. Looking back, I just remember a lot of good times shared with Michelle when we were children. I feel blessed to have known this family. My heart goes out to you.
