James McKoy Obituary

ROUNDUP - James "Jim" Robert McKoy, 85 years, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, April 17, 2007, at the St. Vincent's Hospital, following a surgery.
Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Thursday, April 19, at the First United Methodist Church of Roundup, with burial at 3:30 p.m. at Fort Harrison Montana State Cemetery in Helena, with military honors. Wier Funeral Home of Roundup is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his loving wife, B. Ruth McKoy; and their children, Susan and Gordon Lucht of Jamestown, N.D., Susan and Ronald McKoy of Kalispell, Robbie and Gene Hensleigh of Colstrip, Nancy and Thomas McKoy of Missoula, Marjorie and Dale Suek of Havre, Kathy and Tony Tams of Lincoln and Kimberly and James McKoy Jr. of Lewistown. They have 20 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
James was born Aug. 22, 1921, in Burgaw, N.C., the son of Nettie and Jesse McKoy. He was raised and attended schools in Burgaw, and graduated from high school. In 1941, he joined the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Lexington and served as an aviation metal smith until 1945. In December 1946, James owned and operated McKoy's Furniture & Appliance in Malta until 1977.
James and B. Ruth Johnson were married on Feb. 22, 1947, in Joliet, Ill. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. James is a 60-year member of the Masonic Lodge and Shrine organizations. He was a leader of Boy Scout Troop 29 in Malta for 25 years. James was very devoted to his family. He will be missed by all.
