?"Every man dies - Not every man really lives." Jim "Fitz" Fitzgerald really lived. He was a great man. He was loyal and kind. He was smart and funny. He was a terrific prosecutor and a wonderful boss. Fitz will truly be missed.
I would like to extend my most sincere condolences to the Fitzgerald family.

To the Fitzgerald family, and the family of State's Attorneys-- few words can express the deep and abiding admiration we all feel for Fitz. His wisdom, kindness, and patience remain an ever-present comfort and wellspring of inspiration.
On the worst days, I often smile thinking about Fitz's willingness to belt out the best songs of the 70's with unrivaled glee.
Fitz has touched each one of us, and we will forever remember him as a great leader and a true friend.
Rest in peace Fitz, knowing you made the world, truly, a better place.

My deepest sympathy to the Fitzgerald family on the loss of Jim. He was a good friend and I always felt I could go to him for help when I needed something for "the boss". The Appeals Division was the heart of the Office because of people like Jim and Ken McCurry. I feel fortunate that I had a chance to visit with Jim one last time at Ken's funeral. He was a friend to so many and will be missed by all. May God bless Jim.

My condolences to Jim's family. He was a teacher, mentor and friend to generations of new ASA's, myself included. Some of my best memories of the office are of my days in Appeals and of Fitz. May God bless him and keep him until we meet again.
