From early in my life Jim Emery was one of my favorite cousins. I remember when he would accompany his mom and dad to visit our family almost every year in Huntsville, AL. We played a lot of badminton and had many good natured debates about whether the Big Ten or SEC played better football. Jim loved my mom's blackberry jam and would eat most of a whole jar with buttered toast each morning for breakfast. :) Jim and I had some great times when I was in college at The University of Alabama. We made several trips to New Orleans and had a lot of fun on them. Jim would always reflect on them in later years. I guess that you could say that, although he was 10 years older than me, we played together. Jim was a big Cubs fan and I was a White Sox fan. We had a lot of fun with that rivalry. Jim was also a devoted caregiver to his mother, Florence, who was my father's sister. He cared about his family and made several pilgrimages to Alabama for family weddings, reunions, and funerals. I loved Jim and will miss him. He was a good and gentle man.

Jim was a very active part of our Fab 4 group. We had the pleasure of sharing 7 years of fun and learning. There was never a card or greating that we couldn't concour. If a cupcake had 3 candles we would need to have only one.
We had a lot of fun and a lot of good laughts and a ton of problem solving.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
