James Crown Obituary

Crown, James

The American Society for Yad Vashem mourns the passing of James Crown, beloved son of ASYV/Yad Vashem pillar, Lester and Renee Crown. James was chairman and CEO of his family business, investment firm Henry Crown and Company. The Crown family have been steadfast supporters of Holocaust remembrance efforts and the critical work of Yad Vashem. Our deepest sympathies to his wife Paula, his four children, several grandchildren, his parents, and the entire Crown family. May the family find comfort among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.

Jim lived down the hall from me my first year at Hampshire College. He was an easy-going, friendly guy who never once mentioned who his family was, or how rich they were. The only thing that set him apart from the rest of us was his stereo, which was all high-end audiophile gear.
Alevah Shalom, Jim.

He was never too busy to talk to me when I worked in Aspen as a journalist. He was kind like all members of the Crown family. I'm so sorry to hear this news Paula. Miss you all. Diane Tegmeyer
