Jack Schenk Obituary

Schenk, Jack 89, of South Palm Beach, FL and formerly of Chicago, IL passed away peacefully on April 23, 2009 at 10:43 a.m. at his home. Jack was a decorated Purple Heart World War II Veteran. He founded All American Decorating Service, Inc in 1946 and served as the president until his retirement in 1973. Jack was an ardent supporter of Jewish causes, was active for many years in the Jewish War Veterans and Magen David Adom. Jack was devoted to his family and he is survived and mourned by his beloved wife Florence (nee Yager) Schenk, his loving children Robert (Madalyn) Schenk of New Orleans, LA, Joel (Melinda) Schenk of Rockville, MD and Joan Zurakov of Chicago, IL, his adoring grandchildren Jessica, Talya and Eliana Schenk, Jonathan (Eve) Schenk and Daniel Zurakov, cherished great-granddaughter Ella Rose Schenk. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: The Jewish War Veterans Post 501, c/o Ralph Wugman, 102 Northampton - F, West Palm Beach, Florida 33417. Chapel Services will be held on Sunday, April 26, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at I.J. Morris Funeral Directors, 5411 Okeechobee Blvd., WPB, FL 33417 561-683-8676. Final Internment will take place on May 7, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA.

To a wonderful and loving uncle who will be missed greatly by us. We will miss the times we shared with you during hurricane season and birthdays and holidays. Thank you for being there for us. We love you.

My deepest sympathies to the Schenk family.
I knew Jack for many years and he was a great man with a great sense of humor and someone fun to be around. He will be missed deeply.
