Jack Jay Obituary

Jay, Jack Kenneth

Jay, Jack Kenneth, age 84 of Chicago, Illinois, passed away on August 28, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eleanore and Stanley. Jack is survived by his partner of many years, Thomas McKeon Jr., his sister, Patricia (Patrick) Welle, 4 nieces and nephews, and 9 great nieces and nephews. Teaching was the heart of Jack's life. He earned his Bachelor and a Master's degree in Education from Loyola University. He went on to teach in the Chicago school district for nine years and then worked at Plainfield Elementary school in Des Plaines for 38 years. After retiring from full time teaching, Jack continued to impact children's lives by substitute teaching at various schools in the district. He loved the children and the staff he worked with and considered them as part of his family. His greatest regret was having to retire from teaching. He often said: I would pay them, if I could only work one more day in the classroom with the children I love. A special thank you to the staff at Wesley Place for the care they gave him these past three years. There will be a private celebration of his life with his immediate family in Minnesota at a later date.

Mr Jay was my first grade teacher and he was / is one of the best teachers I´ve ever had! After I moved schools I always wondered how he was doing. He will truly be missed
