Jack Caveney Obituary

Caveney, Jack

Jack E. Caveney, Jr. age 74; of Hinsdale, IL, South Haven, MI, and Naples, FL. Honorably served in the U.S. Coast Guard. Beloved husband of Marianne Caveney, nee Lee, and the late Terry Caveney; loving father of Amy Caveney, Lisa Caveney, Beth (Matthew) Novak and the late Jack Caveney, III; dear stepfather of John (Lindsay) De Luca; cherished grandfather of Daniel, Megan, Emma, Courtney, Ellie, Nora, Anna Tyler, Johnny and Makenna; dearest son of the late Jack and Margaret Caveney; dear brother of Connie (Dennis) Colleran, Betty (Joseph) Rocci, Thomas (Mimi) Caveney, Joni (Michael) Diggs, Martin Daniel Caveney, Andrew (Cheryl) Caveney and the late Gerald (Nadine) Caveney; fond uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Jack began his career in the electrical industry in 1974, serving industrial accounts, electrical contractors, and original equipment manufacturers. He owned and managed his own electrical distributor until 1982 when he joined Panduit. Jack served in many capacities throughout his career, including National Sales Manager, Director of Product Management, and Founder and Head of the Data Communications Division before eventually taking the helm as President, CEO, and Chairman for a time. He was a member of the Panduit Board of Directors until his passing. Jack was an integral part of the growth and success of the company.

Through his varied career, Jack's dedication to Panduit's customers, distribution partners, and employees never wavered. He genuinely cherished the friendships he built throughout the company and over the years. He will be very much missed.

Beyond his career Jack valued time with family and friends at sporting events, on the golf course, concerts and boating. He was always willing to help anyone in need and offer up a hug. All of his "Dad jokes" will be missed by many. A wonderful man and friend of many, we have a new guardian angel in heaven.

John was maybe the best speaker I ever heard. He peppered his annual Quality presentations to us employees with clever bits of humor which always got me laughing, and put me in a cheerful mood. He was very likable. I imagine he will be missed.

Our sincere condolences to the Caveney Family from the Michigan Maritime Museum family. Jack was not only a member but also was so generous in supporting the growth of this Museum and our Launching A Legacy Campaign. His kind words of encouragement also fueled our energy and inspired others to offer support. Thank you, Jack for choosing to make a difference and loving all there is to love about boats and our beautiful lake!

God bless the family in this moment of sorrow.

As a Panduit employee, I fondly remember him when he came to Guadalajara, Mexico, for the grand opening of the warehouse. Such great memories from that day
