Unton, Isadore Nicholas Age 87, was born April 16, 1929 and passed away on July 11, 2016. Beloved husband of 63 years to Marie (nee Valpendesta); loving father to the late Roger (Patti) Unton, Thomas Unton and June Unton-Misniakiewicz; cherished grandfather to Shelby and Alex, and the late Arthur Misniakiewicz; fondest brother to the late Edwin (Shirley) Unton, the late Stephen (Margaret) Unton, Ambrose (Lois) Unton, the late Adeline Unton, the late Lawrence (Barbara) Unton, Josephine (the late Paul) Cerny and Theodore (Maureen) Unton; fondest godfather to the late Leroy Latos, James Unton and James Tuley; fond uncle to many nieces, nephews, great, and great-great-nieces and nephews. Izzy was a meat cutter by trade. He was a member of UFCW Union Local 1546. He retired from Ultra Foods in 1993. Izzy also served his country, he was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. A past commander of the American Legion Calumet Park Post 1156, a member of the Calumet Park Blue Devils and the Great 8th District. He loved to fish and deer hunt, the freezers were always full. He was a great storyteller, and could tell you about the big ones that got away. He could always tell a good joke even if you had heard it 10 times before. Close friends and family called him Izzy, those closest to him called him Popeye. He was loved by many and will be truly missed by those his spirit touched the most. Uncle Izzy,
You are truly an inspiration to everyone whose life you have touched. You have been through so much with regard to your health but you continued to smile, joke around, never complained, and you always showed a genuine interest in your family and friends. Kyle remembers how you stressed the importance of education, pursuing a career to reach your full potential. Kelsey remembers how you always attended parties to acknowledge achievements and extend best wishes on birthdays, baptisms, weddings and so on. We remember the stories you told about growing up while sharing your wisdom. You are like a grandpa to Kyle and Kelsey since they lost their grandpa, your brother Larry and such an early age. Thank you for being such a special part of our lives. We will miss your laughter and stories very much.

Uncle Popeye,

I was at your wedding 63 years ago. You would remind me each and every year of my birthday. "Someone's got a birthday coming up", you would say.

We took this picture 50 years ago. I was so proud to march in the same parades as you. You in the American Legion Color Guard and me in Baton Corp. "Left, left, left...." I would see you line up or march before or after our group and yell, "Uncle Popeye!" Then meet at Grandpa and Grandma's house for Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day picnics. I was proud to be in the same parades as you.

You were the first one to introduce to me to Avocado and said to try it with French Dressing. To this day, I still love it.

You always were interested in my children and my husband and talked about their careers with them. You always asked about them if they weren't there. As my Dad would say, it is not good-bye but , "see ya later"

All our love and respect. The Poulos Family, Tim, Patti, Cortney, Jordan, Shae, Ava Leigh, Layla Mackensie, Makenzi Laine and Amelia Paige.

Uncle Popeye, 50 years ago we took this picture. We marched in the same parades. Love you and see ya later, Your niece, Patti Latos Poulos

I will miss my 'Unk' dearly and our regular phone chats that will be treasured. Growing up he'd always arrive ever-smiling, joke telling and positivity always exuded from him. He was a fighter and through thick and thin, he won so many health battles admirably. (With the help of angels by his side like team Rodge and Patti)!
The memories of the American Legion picnics as a kid, playing horseshoes in my grand parents yard or flying to Vegas on a family trip are cherished.
God Bless the Unton family and may your sorrow be soothed knowing that he is in Heaven with his best buddies (my Dad was one), his loving family who preceded him and his loving son Roger, God son Roy,(many, many, many more) and safe in the arms of Jesus! Love you Uncle Popeye, your niece Pamela.
Auntie Marie stay strong and know that love never, ever dies!

I will forever miss my favorite father in law. It has been a great honor knowing and caring for him. I hope there is plenty of room in the boat with Roger and all of your buddies. Until we all meet again, Love, Patti Unton

We are going to miss your fun personality and warm laugh. You always had a joke or two or three for us and we were happy when we could see you. My children called you Grandpa because that is how they felt and we are sorry to you have left us. Rest in Peace, Uncle Izzy and know that you will be missed. Love, Jackie
