Dear Alfred, Carol, and Rachel,
I had the privilege of working closely with Ina for many years at CCH. Although she had physical problems, she never had limitations. The way she faced each day with grace, wit, and determination is probably the greatest lesson I learned from her. Over the years, my wife, Judy, and I also became friends with Ina. It is a friendship that we will always cherish and will most certainly miss.
On the occasion of my mother's death many years ago, she wrote me the most comforting message I have ever received. As she said then, I paraphrase to you now: May the many wonderful memories you have of your dear Ina gradually supplant your current feelings of loss at her passing and become a source of comfort to you in the years ahead.

Dear Alfred, Carol, and Rachael,
I was so sorry to learn of Ina's illness and death. She was one of the warmest, kindest people I have known, and I will miss her terribly. I had hoped to visit her when I will be in Chicago in early July. I would love to see you all then, if you have time. Please know my thoughts are with you.
In sympathy,
Gayle (Sommers)
