Those many years ago ensuring little Kasondra made her flights to Chicago from Vancouver and back again, and the years before she was even born, I had met this gracious man in his travels. We would always be greeted by Hershel's warm smile. It was a pleasure knowing him.

Joshua, Thank you for Email. I was excited when I saw it was from Hershel. Destroyed when I read it. I am numb, as is Doc and Jill. His passing is almost a year, but it is Today for us. He was a person, I knew, then truly grew to respect and love.
I have no contact for You or Carla... May I please? Mark A. Wetzler 480-277-7776. I have some of the most beautiful photos of Hershel at Alpine Valley, and then Lake Geneva.. HE WILL BE MISSED.

Josh & Carla, My sincere belated condolences. I didn't have either of your email addresses or phone numbers to contact either of you to express my sympathy. I was just back from China when I received the news of Hershel's passing last year and no time to get to Chicago for the wake.
Please let me know if you are ever in Las Vegas. Best regards, Jay Yager

Josh and Carla, I am so sorry and saddened upon hearing the news of Hershel's passing. I just found out this past Sunday 8/24/14. My daughter's boyfriend is a trader I asked if he new of Hershel he informed me that Hershel had passed. He was one of kind we had some great times together at Lake Geneva playing golf and just hanging out. Though we lost touch with with one another these last few years I thought of him often. He was larger than life. He had a special way of making everyone around him feel better a special gift from a special man. I'm profoundly sorry for your loss but grateful for having had the opportunity to know him.

Hershel Family, To Carla-- I did not know of Hershel.s passing. Many conversations with Hershel for many years about real estate matters. At Lake Geneva and in Chicago, on the phone and emails.. It was always a joy to talk with him and argue our points of view regarding the property on Three Oaks Rd. Hershel was one of a kind client who was always right-and I went happily along with whatever he wanted to do. I will surely miss his kindness to me and the genuineness of his character.

We want to convey our deepest sympathy to Joshua Herrendorf and Carla Odishu over the passing of our friend Hershel. Unfortunately, the florist informed us that they couldn't deliver the flowers that we ordered because the funeral was earlier than their delivery schedule could accommodate. We were out of town and unable to attend the funeral personally. Also, the phone number for Joshua listed on the Internet did not answer and we didn't have a phone number for Carla nor email addresses for either one.

This was the beginning of the 8th Year of a "once a week friendship" we shared at Grand Geneva, where each and every Saturday you were around we shared a laugh or two along with a story about life before you teed off.
Thank you for placing my birthday on the White Sox exploding scoreboard a couple of years ago, and then signing off, "from your friend Hershel" and then having an 8 x 10 picture of that sent to me! Pretty special.
In passing you celebrate the life, so I now will remind you about the time you gave me your World Series ring - I wish I had taken a picture. But you also gave it to someone in the parking lot who dropped it and a diamond came out. You sent it back to Jostens and then "they lost it"! I know they replaced the ring, but you my once a week friend will never be replaced.
Thanks for sharing the times together at Grand Geneva.

Joshua, Carla & Kassondra, we are so sorry for your loss. I first met Hershel as a customer but eventually was fortunate enough to know him as a friend. I'll always remember our rounds of golf in Lake Geneva and his positive outlook on life. He will be missed.
May 19, 2014
Hershel and I would meet and discuss the world and way it turns on it's axis at least twice a year, in the summer celebrating our birthday's and then again in the fall before he left for Florida.
My respect for his opinion was always yearning, yet he always questioned me as if he felt the same way, that I somehow had value for him.
A remarkable person, Hershel would share his personal stories of his success that even he couldn't believe. He shared a joy when he spoke of his parents and the legacy they created for him.
When I was informed by a mutual friend of Hershel's sudden passing I was certainly surprised, but I won't soon forget the generosity of the friendship we shared over the last 25 years.
Goodbye old friend.

I am so saddened to hear of the passing of my friend Hershel. Sending my deepest sympathies to the family of this great man who touched so many. Hershel was technically a client but in reality that was irrelevant - the way he treated me made me always regard him as a kind and generous spirited friend. I loved our chats, our discussions about life, the lessons I learned (e.g. one must always pay forward), and the warm wishes i received on the holidays. He had a hamish approach to life and was a true mensch and teacher. The world has too early lost an incredible spirit. Baruch Dayan Emet.

Dear Kassandra, Josh, Carla,
We still have a hard time accepting that Hershel has passed away.
Hershel had such an energy and the big smile. He lightened up a room. He will be so missed.
I have known Hershel since he was 11 when we came to America and our families were best friends. He, Arie and Josh were the band at the wedding when Roger and I got married 48 years ago.
In the past few weeks we were texting and Hershel was in such good spirits. Our hearts are with you at this difficult time.

Memories...
Little girl on a boat-your black leather coat...
Yellow Rolls Royce-your soothing voice...
Homes on the lake-Sweet 16th birthday cake...
Playing the black piano awhile-captivating all with your beautiful smile...
Your apartment sways-windy Chicago days...
Parties & pig roasts-champagne wedding toasts...
One girl full grown-then a beautiful child of your own...
Though our lives grew apart- you were always there in my heart...
Most memorable of all is dad's wedding day-more handsome than ever with your hair silver gray...
With a smile ear to ear-40 years disappear...
Little girl again-proudly stands with her dad & his best friend...
Hershel- thank you for sharing your shining soul with my family in addition to yours...blessed are those that ever caught even a glimpse if your radiant smile!
Peaceful journies...Gina Ricci

A man may have many friendly acquaintances. A handful may become closer relationships, but only a few become genuine friends. And for this I am grateful that Hershel was a true friend. We met in Lake Geneva in 1977 and remained "brothers" always there for one another over the years. I am deeply saddened and pained over the loss of my friend. But at the same time, I will remind all of many fond memories shared and the joy that Hershel brought into our lives. From my wife Rachel, son Hayden Drew and me, our hearts go out to Joshua, Kasondra and his dear Carla. May God comfort you and allow the healing to begin now.

My heart aches for the loss of my first cousin Hershel. A rare and kind soul, the son of my father's sister Pola, my beloved aunt. We grew up together but separated by east and west coast when father fell ill and passed at a young age also. Kassandra, I'm sure you're father spoke of me. Last time I saw you was when you were a baby. We must reconnect because family is the strongest bond of love between people. To Josh, you know how I feel about you. My heart goes out to you, Sammy, and Alexa. To Carla, you were my cousins world, And though we only connected a few times, I pray for strength for you to get through this tragic loss. I hope we also could grow closer. Due to my physical disability and inability to travel, I cannot be with you all, when I know in my heart this is where I should be. Rest assured my heart and soul is with you. My heart will always remember you Hershel, and love goes out to my family and to all that loved my cousin
