Herbert E. Ziegeldorf, age 83, of Chicago. Graduate, Northwestern University, both undergraduate and law school); AmeriCorps VISTA Volunteer in Service to America and VISTA recruiter; member, Railroad Retirement Board; 25-year employee of the Dept. of Housing & Urban Development; and active member, Independent Voters of Illinois – Independent Precinct Organization (IVI – IPO). Beloved husband of Carol, née Westerlund; dear brother-in-law of the late Charles T., Richard, Ronald, and Lawrence Westerlund; loving uncle of many nieces and nephews; fond cousin of Daniel Nowaczynski, Linda Shipley, and Dorthea Mueller. A celebration of life is planned for June, 2026. Memorial contributions may be made to Crossroads Fund, 3411 W. Diversey Ave., Suite 20, Chicago, IL 60647 (crossroadsfund.org).
