Hazel Nelson Obituary

Nelson, Hazel Robinson Hudson Hazel was born January 19th, 1930 in McComb, Mississippi. She moved to Chicago in 1948 and worked in a variety of jobs. She married Raymond Hudson in 1950 to which two children, Gloria and Michael, were born. She was an active member at Original Providence Baptist Church. Raymond Hudson died in 1974. Hazel became founding principal of Bethel Christian School, from which she retired after 27 years of impacting the lives of thousands of youth in this ministry. She became a member of Bethel Lutheran Church. In 1986, Hazel married David Nelson, Pastor of Bethel Lutheran Church. She lived into the lives of the youth, the parishioners and the church, and uplifted many with her prayers and advice. She was a woman of strong faith and great love of people. Visitation will be from 10-11 and Celebration of Homegoing at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 18th at Bethel Lutheran Church, 130 N. Keeler. Donations should be made in lieu of flowers, which will be shared with Bethel New Life, Bethel School and Bethel Lutheran Church.
