Mr. Shapiro was a true hero. A kind, compassionate and brilliant leader. He and Patty were quite the pair and they certainly made the 80N module at SNR a great place to be. He was a friend to everyone - such a unique man. There will never be another Harold Shapiro so I feel very blessed to have known him. Mr. Shaprio, you will be missed by so many. Thank you for gracing us with your presence. My deepest sympathies to all who knew and loved him.

I was saddened to learn of Hal's passing. He was one of my first law professors, in 1964, and one of my early mentors. He was as humane as he was brilliant, a colleague with whom I consulted for many years. Our contact in recent years was minimal, but my fond memories of Hal will last for my lifetime.
May his family be sustained by their memories of Hal, and may they be comforted among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.

I caddied for Mr. Shapiro every Saturday and Sunday at Lake Shore Country Club for the last two years. Seeing Mr. Shapiro was definitely the highlight of my week. He never ceased to amaze me on a daily basis; there was always something new and interesting I would discover about him through our conversations. He always spoke highly of his family, especially Sarah and his other grandchildren. I can only hope when I get to be his age that I can be as inspirational as he was. He was very successful yet so gentle and humble about life. I will miss him greatly.
I give my deepest condolences to the Shapiro family. You all are in my prayers. The memories of Mr. Shapiro will forever be in my heart.

I have fond memories of Mr. Shapiro from my days at Sonnenschein when we "shared" Mr. Pollock's parking space on weekends. My condolences to his family and colleagues -- I am certain he will be missed by all.

I had known Mr. Shapiro since I was a teenager more than 22 years ago, when I started working at Sonnenschein. I had the great privilege of serving as his secretary when Patty was out of the office. I learned a great deal about strength, leadership and compassion from him. Mr. Shapiro, you will remain in my heart forever.

Harold was always generous. I felt his generosity personally.
I talked with him on Thursday morning, the day of his death. He was happy to have just two more classes to teach and, as always, was more interested in hearing what I had to say than to say much himself.
He was agreat man, lawyer, teacher and listener. A man whom I respected greatly. My condolences to his family, nuclear and extended.

Growing-up, my father, Bernie Bernstein would talk about Hal. While in college, I worked for Sonnenschein as a messenger. Since my mother’s death in September, Hal visited my father at the nursing home, just to reminisce about the old days. The last conversation we had, he was overjoyed to see the White Sox win the World Series. My father and I would like to send our deepest sympathies to the family.
