Green Johnson Obituary

Johnson, Green age 84, of Chicago, Illinois passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2007 at St. Bernard Hospital after a short illness. He married Valdora Hayden and they enjoyed 63 years together. Green was a founding member of New Fellowship Baptist Church of Gary, Indiana where he served as deacon, choir member and supervisor for 38 years. He was a former member of Jeremiah #8 Lodge of Indiana. He retired from LTV Steel in East Chicago, Indiana after 38 years of service. He leaves to cherish his memories: devoted wife, Valdora; loving daughter, Vanessa; loving grandson, Garin, both of Gary, IN; one sister, Helen Bray, of Atlanta, GA; one brother, Robert (Connie) Johnson, of Gary, IN; four sisters-in-law, Ann Stafford, Lula Harris, Mary Lewis all of Gary, Selma Smith; one brother-in-law, Willie C. Hayden, both of East Chicago, IN; caregiver, Tony Banks, of Chicago, IL and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 11, 2007 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Divinity Funeral Home, 3820 Pulaski St., East Chicago, IN. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 12, 2007 at 11 a.m. with final viewing from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at New Fellowship Baptist Church, 1072 Clinton St., Gary, IN with Rev. Ronald Smith Jr., pastor, officiating. Interment Fern Oaks Cemetery, Griffith, IN. Professional services handled by Divinity Funeral Home.
