Gloria M. Taft

Fishkill - Gloria M. Lawrence Taft, 86, a resident of Fishkill for over 50 years, passed away July 3, 2012 at Wingate Nursing Home in Highland, NY. Born October 8, 1925 in Wappingers Falls, she was the daughter of the late Charles J. Lawrence and Melvina Stokes. Gloria attended schools in Wappingers Falls and was employed by IBM in Poughkeepsie in the early forties.

On March 15, 1946, Gloria married Louis Taft, who predeceased her on January 30, 2000. They had been married almost 54 years. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Pamela DeFraia on February 15, 2012.

She is survived by two sons, Donald Taft and his wife, Sandra, of Show Low, AZ and Louis Taft of Ancramdale, NY; beloved brother, Calvin Lawrence and his wife, Yvonne, of Wappingers Falls and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Evelyn Berinato, Dorothy Robbins Grundle, Eunice Eighmie and brothers, Charles J. Lawrence, Jr. and Gerry Marioni. She was loved by all.

The Taft and Lawrence family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Wingate at Ulster for the wonderful care she received.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, July 8th from 2 - 4 pm at the Robert H. Auchmoody Funeral Home, 1028 Main St., Fishkill, NY. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 9th at 10 am at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1200 Main St., Fishkill, followed by burial at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
