Dear Mona and family
I was shocked and saddened to hear of Gerry's passing.
You may remember your trip to West Palm Beach about 5 years ago, where you, Gerry, Judy and I had dinner together at the Kee Grill. It was the first time that Gerry and I had seen each other since our Phi Sigma Delta days at U of Mich, where we were pledge class brothers.
Needless to say, we really enjoyed that evening and had always hoped to be able to do it again.
Gerry and I kept up emails sporadically, and now I am so sorry that we did not stay closer in touch.
I remember Gerry most for his intelligence, wit, irreverance and friendliness.
He will be sorely missed.
Our condolences and also our best wishes for the future go out to you and your family.

I was the secretary at Henry Horner Boys & Girls Club and later at James Jordan Boys & Girls Club. Although I haven't seen Mr. Penner in a lot of years, it was a great pleasure knowing him and working with him. He was a very special and intricate part of Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago. My condolences to his entire family

I knew Jerry as a volunteer with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago. Jerry was very committed to the Agency and a board volunteer for twenty five years.Because of his leadership and relationship with the Chicago Bulls, the James Jordan Club was built on the West side of Chicago. Because of Jerry, thousands of kids and their families have been able to utilize the Club.

I was one of the young attorneys whom Jerry mentored, way back when. He was smart, interesting, creative, wacky and so incredibly caring -- the epitome of a Mentor. My warmest sympathies to Mona and Jerry's children and grandchildren, about whom he was bottomless in his love and devotion. To my former partners at KMZ, you have lost a true mensch -- a great lawyer, a great advisor, a great, great man. I mourn his passing.

Jerry was one of life's great gifts to all his friends. We cherished his vast intellectual curiosity that embraced all the arts, and the true sense of morality and social justice he brought to the daily political life. But what we will miss most was his grand sense of humor, his generosity, and his love.
Our hearts are breaking for Mona, his children, grandchildren, and all his family.
