Tsevis, George T. age 80, of Chicago, passed away December 10, 2003, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on January 20, 1923, in Sopiki, Vorio-Epirus, Albania. Mr. Tsevis resided in Chicago for 43 years, a long time member of the St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Chicago, member and past President of the Sopikioton Society of Chicago, United Epirotic Society of Illinois, former employee for 19 years of the Mary Ann Baking Co., member of the Bakery & Confectioners Union. George, also known as "Pateras", "Theio", "Papou", and "Adelphos" by his family. He was a kind, compassionate, gentleman, who wanted to see everyone happy and healthy above all other things, and he wished nothing more than to keep the traditions and values of his culture, alive in the hearts and minds of all. We will truly miss his life on earth with us, however his spirit and memory will remain eternal. George is survived by his caring wife of 47 years, Evdokia (nee Hartzalas), his devoted sons Theodore G. (Dana Anna) and Athanasios (Panagiota) Tsevis. He was the cherished Papou of Alexandria, George Andreas, Stephania, Christina, Elizabeth and Sydney Maria, dear brother of Vasiliki (the late Efstathios) Mantas, Elpida (the late Haralambos) Gravanis, Androniki (the late Efthimios) Fousekis, Dimitra (Vasilios) Kakates, Eleftheria (Evangelos) Vouris, Athena Harrisis, Christ (Anastasia) and Nikolaos (Stavroula) Tsevis. Preceded in death by his parents, Theodoros and Sevasti Tsevis and his brother, Konstandinos Tsevis. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews and many life-long friends. Visitation will be Sunday, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., at the Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 6150 N. Cicero Ave. Funeral Monday morning, 9:30 a.m., from the funeral home to St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 2701 N. Sheffield Ave., Chicago, IL, 60614, for service at 10:30 a.m. Interment Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to his beloved St. George Church, appreciated. Arrangements by: John G.
