George Therrian Obituary

George J. Therrian, Jr., 68, of East Second Street, Orient, Iowa, formerly of California, Texas and Attleboro, a self-employed long haul truck driver, died Saturday, May 29, 2004 at Greenfield Hospital in Greenfield, Iowa. He was the companion of eight years to Sara Crook and husband of the late Alberta (Lehan) Therrian and the late Marion (Harris) Therrian.

Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on June 30, 1935, Mr. Therrian was a son of Blanche P. (Poirier) Therrian of Attleboro and the late George J. Therrian, Sr.

Mr. Therrian was educated in Attleboro schools and was a graduate of Attleboro High School, class of 1952.

During the Korean War, Mr. Therrian served as a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps.

Years ago Mr. Therrian was employed as a salesman for Prudential Insurance Company in the Attleboro area and moved to California in 1961 where he was employed as a driver for Bekins Van Lines in Engelwood, CA for twenty-two years. Mr. Therrian later was self-employed operating G & G Trucking, a long haul trucking company operating a route from Galveston, Texas to Long Beach, CA.

Mr. Therrian has resided in Orient, Iowa the past five years. He was a member of the Pasadena, Texas Lodge of Elks and a member of the Western Conference of Teamsters, Local 692. He also enjoyed golfing and woodworking.

In addition to his companion of and mother, Mr. Therrian is survived by a son: Patrick F. Therrian of Randolph, VT; four daughters: Kathleen Ann Mansfield of Attleboro, Bonnie Jean Conaway of Vacaville, CA, Cindy Lee Therrian of Randolph, VT, Kristene Therrian of Riverside, RI; a brother: Edward A. Therrian of Somerset, MA; ten grandchildren; a great-granddaughter and a niece: Kristyn F. Therrian of Somerset, MA

A funeral will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2004 at 10 AM from the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck Street, Attleboro. Followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM in St. Mary’s Church, Coyle Drive, Seekonk.

Burial with full military honors will take place in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Dodgeville, MA.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, June 4th from 4 – 8 PM in the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck Street, Attleboro.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in his memory may be made to: St. Mary’s Church, c/o St. Mary’s Rectory, 285 Central Avenue, Seekonk, MA 02771.
