Uncle George was very well described by another of his nephews as "...a man of mystery and surprise." I think that many people knew a little, but very few people knew alot about his personal life, or his professional life for that matter, and that made him a "man of mystery." Yet, at his funeral it was amazing to see the diplomas, certificates of completion, plaques, licenses, awards, organizational memberships, certificates of appreciation, and copies of a couple of the dozen or so books he had published on scientific subjects such as thermo dynamics and thermo-coupling. And his work is still continuing. There is evidence that he had a profound influence on the lives of many people, from his days as a professor in college, to the local neighborhood students he tutored, to his involvement with the local "Little League" baseball teams from which he also received a plaque. And all of this made him a man of surprises, and he truly "left his mark" in the world. He will truly be missed.
