Mickey: I just learned of George's death and I feel terrible I was not at his wake and funeral. He was what we should all aspire to be: kind, caring, generous, good natured and honorable. I trust your fond memories of him will help you through this difficult period.

Dear Michele and Poulos Family,
My condolances at your loss. I was out of town last week; sorry I missed the wake and funeral.
I am happy that George is now free from that terrible malady. He is again singing and keeping all laughing with those corny jokes that he could tell so well.
My memories of George go back to De Paul Academy, but I got to know him really well when he started his second career as an educator at Mather High School. I hired him to be a physical education teacher, but soon realized he could do so much more as a counselor. George was a master of relationships and had a real gift for connecting with our young people. He brought lots of fun and humor to the serious work of education. He will be missed.
I am making a donation in George's memory to the Retired Teachers Association of Chicago. May he rest in peace.

George is my cousin and I will miss him. As young boys, we played a lot of basketball. George was an outstanding ballplayer. We also worked together a few summers between college years in the late 1960s. His memory is a treasure.

To the family, I'm so sorry for your loss. Growing up at Welles Park was a huge part of my life. Mr. Poulos was the one who made me love playing sports, especially basketball and then working for him in the summer was such a thrill and made me realize this is what I wanted to do (work with children in the parks) I have a lot of memories of Mr.Poulos. George had lots of talents and a way with people. He will truly be missed. Stay strong together and I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Marty,Greg,Steve, Mike and Pam,
I am so sorry for your loss, I know how much you all loved your brother and Uncle. I had the pleasure of working for
Mr. Poulos for many years at Welles Park. He was the best boss I have ever had and treated us all like we were his family. He ran a great park and gave so much to the community through his many programs. I will always remember his laugh and smiles, and just the way he interacted with us, his employees and all the children. Welles Park has never been the same since he left, and never will, I wish my children could have had the wonderful experiences I did, and that was because of Mr. Poulos. I know what a big part of all of your lives he was, I am so sorry for the pain you are all going thru.
My husband Brian and I will always be grateful to him because we met at Welles Park while being employed by George and are still married 25 years later. We are blessed to have known him.
Our family will continue to keep your family and his wife Michelle in our thoughts and prayers.

My Uncle Frank attended the camp for child and adults with disabilities that ran at Welles Park for many years and I was lucky enough to have worked with them through my high school years. That camp changed our lives. My uncle went from a man that sat on the porch to someone that went bowling, skiing, ice skating and swimming. Mr. Poulos was a huge component in the success of that camp and he was always their biggest cheerleader. Thank you so much for all you love and support. There will never be anyone like you and you will be greatly missed. God Bless.

So sorry to hear of this. We grew up at Welles Park and Mr Poulos was a great part of our childhood! What a wonderful man he was, although I have not seen him in many many years he will always be a part of my momories growing up! He always made sure we were busy doing good things at the park and keeping us on our toes to make sure we stayed out of trouble. I can still picture him coming outside of the field house to see what we were all up to! My condolcences to the family.
