To Beverly

Bev -- I want to express my sympathy to you at this time of your father's death. I have many memories of you, of course -- and of your kind and welcoming mom and dad at 318 Lexington Ave. Was it 318?

Also, I had an abnormal pap smear back in about 1962, when I was working in AZ. I was coming back to Pitts. the next week, so I waited to see your dad about it. I was so scared, and he was so reassuring. Everything was fine.

I see you have an extensive family -- seven grandchildren already. I was just in Evanston, IL this past Sunday. I wanted to try to get in touch with you, but there wasn't really a chance. My sister Jeanne's son Philip lives in Evanston; he is the chef at the Daily American Grill at the Doubletree Hotel in Skokie, so I have been to Skokie quite a few times -- at his restaurant.

I trust your life has been blessed. As indeed mine has. I have been a Sister of Charity all these years -- a perfect and blessed life for me. Maybe we can keep in touch. My best to your mom. I pray she is in good health. Love, MARY

I worked with Dr. Patton at Pittsburgh Hospital. He was a great doctor and most knowledgable.

He also taught us when we were student nurses in the school. His lectures were most interesting and always very up to date. His sense of humor was great and he had a down to earth approach to life. His patients loved him and he has many wonderful grown up, healthy children who owe their lives to him.

In later years it was always nice to meet him with Corrine at Mass at St. Bede's and at Duranti's Resturant. Dr. Patton was a gentleman physician of days past and we will miss him and those who practiced medicine in the caring and careful way he did. Your family are in my thoughts and prayers. God bless you. Sr. Louise

There was never a doctor like him. He delivered my brother and sister, and also my daughter. When I was in need of surgery, he calmed all of my fears. When he retired, I cried because I knew there would never be anyone like him, and I was right. You have my deepest sympathy.

My mother LaRue Story and her family are sadden by the death of Dr. Patton. He delivered all but 1 child of my moms. We are a family of 8. Most of my 4 sisters and myself included had Dr. Patton before he retired. I remember when my little sister was born Dr. Patton asked my father if he would like to see the birth of his child. That was before the dads were allowed in the birthing room. My father was so excited. Everytime I go to East Liberty I try to remember how to get to his office. Your father will be missed by many.

Sincerely,

The Story Family
