George Papagiannis Obituary


Papagiannis, George S. retired Sgt. C.P.D., son of the late Spyros and Angeline Papagiannis, foster father of Aaron Boyes, brother of Katina (Sam) Callas, uncle of Katina (Michael) Curtis, Gina (Efthimios) Fallidas, Deanna (Lupi) Mendieta and Thomas Grammatis. He also leaves his friend and companion Tammy Boyes. George was a 36 year veteran of the Chicago Police Dept. and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and founding member of the Hellenic American Police Association. Visitation Sunday, from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 6150 N. Cicero Ave. Family and friends will meet Monday morning at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 2727 W. Winona St., Chicago. For funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Interment Elmwood Cemetery. At George's request, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Chicago Police Memorial Fund. Arangements by: John G. Adinamis Funeral Director, Ltd., 773-736-3833.

Oct 2023- it´s been 18 years since the passing of George but his memory lives on, we were just talking about him at recent retirees get-together. He was a great guy and a great storyteller. He is still missed by many......RIP
