I wish to extend my sincere condolences to the family and close friends of Professor Danforth. I am a 1978 graduate (B.Arch) of the Illinois Institute of Technology School of Architecture. I remember when I first came to IIT in the fall of 1971 for an "open house" at the School of Architecture, Professor Danforth was in Crown Hall representing the School of Architecture, and I spoke with him about the possibility of attending IIT. I have to say that because Mr. Danforth came across as a very warm, sincere individual, leaving me with a very positive feeling about the school, I made up my mind then that I wanted to attend IIT, period. I did not apply anywhere else, and was subsequently accepted, and graduated in the spring of 1978. I did not have the good fortune of having Mr. Danforth as a professor while at IIT, but am sure that if I had, his class would have been very special. Architecture has truly lost a very gifted individual.

I am deeply saddened by George's death as we were both colleagues and friends. I always enjoyed his conversation and sharp wit. May he rest in eternal peace.
