Cariato, George Paul 82, of 200 E. Berry St., died at 1:10 a.m., Tuesday, (September 30, 2003), at Goshen General Hospital. He was born February 20, 1921, in Chicago, to Luigi and Matilda (Knouski) Cariato. He married Nollie Shannon on May 3, 1941, in Chicago and she died in April 1999. He then married Cindy Snider on February 19, 2000, in Osccola. Mr. Cariato is survived by his wife, three stepdaughters, Mrs. Bryan (Carrie) Roberts of Milwaukee, WI, and Kelsey and Kayla Kauffman, both of Middlebury, two stepsons, Justin (Audra) Kauffman of Boston and Travis Kauffman of Anderson, IN and four sisters, Mrs. John (Rose) Merutka of Henderson, Nev. Lorraine Bernahl of Chicago, Ruth Kuk of Henderson and Ethel Uptain of Elgin, IL. He was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, in Goshen and one hour prior to the 10 a.m., service Saturday, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. The Rev. John Delaney will officiate. A 7:30 p.m., wake service will be Friday, at the funeral home. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m., Monday, at All Saints Cemetery, in Des Plaines, IL. Mr. Cariato served in the 90th AAA Army in the South Pacific during WWII. He then worked at Appleton Electric, now Emerson Electric, for 45 years in the assembly department, as foreman and as a production manager.
