Dear McGowan Family,

I read today of your mother's passing, and yes, Virginia, your mother was one of the kindest people.

We did our student teaching together at Patrick Henry School in Chicago. I was young, newly married and pregnant, without a lot of funds. She picked me up every morning in her green station wagon, and every morning I threw up about half way to our student teaching. She was kind, considerate, and nurturing. When our student teaching was done, all I could afford to buy her was a rosary. She told me to just pass the favor along to people who need a ride. I have been doing that for over 40 years. She was a great lady.
