May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. My wife and I will put you and your extended family in our prayers.
Although I had not spoken to Garrett in some time, I am still shocked and saddened. I consider myself lucky enough to have a been a friend of his during our college years at NIU and will always remember his kind heart and smile.

Dear Donna, Mr. and Mrs. Tylka, Dan, and extended family,
We are just shocked and so sad to hear this news. We have such happy memories with Garret and all of you. Garret was a such a nice and genuine person and fun to be around. We will never hear Neil Diamond or Puff the Magic Dragon without thinking of him again!
Keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers and wishing you comfort and peace.

I played 16" softball with Garret on the Rogues an a Locals in Darien. He was a good guy and great teammate. He has the distinction of have two of the strangest accidents I ever saw (or caused). He had the loudest bone brake I ever heard when he collided with a teammate (not me) and he nearly lost an ear in a pick up football game (his head got in the way of my elbow). Now I wish I could reminisce about these incidents with him. Rest in peace, my friend.
