Gabriele Dalzell Obituary

Dalzell, Gabriele

Gabriele "Gaby" Dalzell, age 89, passed away on March 6, 2024 surrounded by loved ones. Gaby led a long and remarkable life. Born in Germany and a girl during the war, she came to United States in 1954 and settled in Chicago, where she met the love of her life, George. Together they built a life full of love, laughter, and happiness. Gaby was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother (omi), sister, aunt and friend. She loved to cook, was a voracious reader (mostly of romance novels), and never turned down an invitation for lunch and a little shopping. Her family will especially remember the warm and welcoming home she created during the holidays, and her magical Christmas tree, draped in ornaments each placed to perfection. Beyond her warmth, Gaby will also be remembered for the wisdom, strength and courage she displayed in the face of any challenge life threw at her. She was truly one of a kind. Gaby was the dear wife of the late George A. Dalzell; loving mother of Michael (Linda), Daniel, David (Jeanne), Timothy (Jodi), and Doris (Jeremiah) Murray; devoted grandmother of 12, and great-grandmother of 10. While she will be deeply missed by all who knew her, her family takes great solace in knowing she is finally reunited with her beloved George, and that they are probably sharing a shot of peppermint schnaps right now.
