Dear Suria Family,
Judge Suria was my godfather. It has been a long time since our families have seen each other but reading all the kind words of your friends and recognizing a few names from the past brings back a lot of fond memories of my godfather. Please know that all of the Yates family offers their condolences on his passing.

He was especialy patient with me and was always encouraging and positive. I cherished his advice and always remembered it and eventualy even learned to use some of it. People like your father are far and few between....he will be missed.

My first experience as a juror was in 1992. It was a murder trial in Judge Suria's courtroom at 26th and California. Judge Suria handled the proceedings with such aplomb and sensitivity that I was prompted to write a personal letter to him following the trial. I wanted to thank him for giving me a sense of faith in our judicial system. Judge Suria actually had me looking forward to my next jury summons! He was the ideal ambassador for the criminal court system in Chicago.

I would like to send my condolences to the Suria family.
From the time you moved into Midlo and built your house on the vacant property where the tree was that was "our" fort - the blackhawk tree. That is when I first meet the Judge. He told us we could always use the tree. What a great guy. He always was to our family and me

Nancy, we really enjoyed the time you and Bud (and my parents) had dinner with us at our home in Glen Ellyn quite a few years ago. Please also pass along our sympathy to Becky. While we only met Fred briefly, we saw the person inside; kind and compassionate. His reputation preceded him as an honorable and dedicated man. We are sorry for his unexpected passing but feel only God knows when our time is up. We hope that Nancy and family can find solace in the wonderful memories they can share together.

My Deepest sympathy to Nancy and the entire Suria family. My parents knew Fred for nearly 50 years. My father was truly honored to work as Fred's Personal Bailiff for almost 20 years. He always bragged that Fred was the fairest man he knew. A man of integrity. And a Judge who absolutely earned his title as Honorable Judge Suria. With Sincere Sympathy.

I am so sorry to hear of your family's loss. Becky and I were friends when we were children and I spent alot of time at her childhood home and she spent alot of tme at mine! I have nothing but wonderful memories of your father! He was always kind, always attentive and always loving. When we would run around trying to spy on Becky's older siblings (Fred mostly!) Mr. Suria would just laugh at us and let us go! There are plenty of other childhood memories of overnights and vacations and lots of laughs! As we all grew up, I married and bought a home within a block or so of where we all grew up (my folks are still there). When your father still lived in the home I would run into him on occassion and reintroduce myself to him and he would lovingly update me on his children and how you were all doing and what grandchildren he had and how he enjoyed them! My wish for you all is that you may find peace in some of the memories and feel some of the warmth and love that I felt from you all back then! God Bless you all and thanks for the wonderful memories!
